Two spots a little ways up Broadway from the conference, in a nice little downtown area that also has some good shopping:

 

Miller's Luncheonette - 605 Broadway, between Branchport and Grand

   open for breakfast and lunch, and a great place for either.  Expert tip: parking available behind the restaurant - enter through the back door!

 

Pearl Of Lisbon Restaurant - 609 Broadway

   Long Branch has a large Portuguese community, and many restaurants that serve the cuisine.

 

In the mysteriously-named West End section, southern end of Long Branch:

 

The Inkwell - 665 2nd Ave., just north of Cedar

   Though not in the same location as in its1970s heyday, this coffehouse still has plenty of relaxed hipster ambiance.

 

The Windmill - 586 Ocean Boulevard at Brighton Ave.

   Sure there's another location a little closer to the conference center, but you really need to go to the original spot in the windmill-shaped building.  There's a great ice cream place across the parking lot, as well - unless Strollo's Lighthouse is open at 65 New Ocean Avenue
